Reflections on 2017

Reflections on 2017

     Volume I Issue 4.

All of us at Shardana Sailing Charters have had an intense and exciting 2017.  Shardana Sailing Charters just could not have existed without the love and support from Linda and Charo—the respective wives of Captain Andrew and Captain Davis as well as the support of family and close friends.

Captain Andrew: Andrew’s mother, Patricia, was born and raised in Birkenhead, England.  Her father and brothers owned several yachts and raced sailboats in the Irish Sea prior to WW II  through the 1950s.  Patricia also enjoyed sailing and powerboats while growing up in North West England.  Captain Andrew’s mother had been a strong supporter of purchasing a sailboat for the purpose of offering a different style of sailing charters.

Shardana: Andrew and Davis ordered the boat in February 2017.  As soon as the contract was signed  Andrew called his mum, Patricia, to tell her the great news; and she was very excited to see her son carrying on the family tradition.  Unfortunately Patricia died shortly after the purchase and was not able be a part of the future of Shardana Sailing Charters.   Despite this major upheaval, Andrew, Linda, Davis and Charo moved forward and created Shardana Sailing Charters.

Captain Davis. Davis also had some personal changes. Captain Davis retired from  his position at the USEPA and began a new job at the Latin American Development Bank where he helps Latin American countries invest in economically beneficial environmental projects.

By providing our customers with the best sailing experience possible we are extending the legacy of giving people some much needed attention, escape, relaxation, and hopefully some happiness.

The death of my “Mum” has reinforced many of her beliefs, teachings, and virtues which Davis and I have attempted to install in our interactions with you-- our fellow sailors.   As we see it we all suffer from personal issues.   We share accomplishments and failures, enjoy happiness,  and deal with sadness.  It is how we each respond to these emotions and how we allow these responses to impact our lives that makes the difference.

We hope that in 2018 you will view Shardana Sailing Charters not only as a most wonderful way to sail and a safe haven, but as a tool that will allow you to get more from your life and help you adjust to the many positive and negatives changes that impact your life.   Realize that for us we hope your end game is to walk off our sailboat, Shardana, with a broad smile on your face and a deep smile in your heart.
